Ability: Poison Touch/ Swift Swim
Poliwag was not an uncommon sight in the Alola Region living is shallow ponds and river banks where they grew into Politoad. The distinctive straight patterns on there belly are due to the effect of being directly located on the equator making them a variation of their Kanto cousin. However, due to invasive grass and water species brought through several means the species was forced to evolve.
This form of the species developed more powerful tails and webbed feet to deal with the fast rivers young are now born in to protect against grass and other predator pokemon. The second adaptation was developing poison glands that make eating this pokemon a dangerous move as the toxins are lethal to most species and can kill as large of a pokemon as a Snorlax. This change in typing caused their form to change as well as the unusual color warns predatory pokemon to stay away.
