Okay, here’s what I’ve heard from my sources:
> Nintendo is not happy with Game Freak about the national dex controversy. They don’t know what they’re going to do about it just yet but they are making Game Freak go into “damage control mode”
> As a result, the Pokemon direct that has been planned for August will instead release in early-mid July.
>The Pokeon Direct will show new information about Pokémon Sword and Shield, Pokémon Masters, and Pokémon Home
> Right now there are no plans to include patches for the remaining Pokémon. Nintendo may be pushing to change this by sending over additional employees, but Game Freak and TPCI are worried that if they agree, Nintendo will take a larger cut from Sword and Shield than they initially budgeted for. Working on patches for these games also cuts into the development of the 2020 games which will start soon. We’ll have to wait and see what they decide—this information will likely be revealed in another Pokémon Direct in August or September.
> Also, I will warn that if Game Freak accepts Nintendo’s help on the patches and on developing the 2020 games, we will likely not get a third version of Sword and Shield. Content will also probably have to be cut from the 2020 games. Note that the 2020 games were not planned to be third versions and will be very special to certain long-time fans.
> To attempt to get players excited for the games again, the Pokémon Direct in July will reveal the Gigantomaxing mechanic and the rumored cross generation evolutions.
> Pokémon Masters will get a trailer that basically explains how the game works. I actually don’t have any details on this as it was not supposed to be announced until the initially planned August Direct, so they may just be throwing something together to get people excited.
