>>56549136Several people talk about how Unova designs are ugly, but people fail to mention just how goddamn boring BW's dex is. The early-game areas are crawling with nothing but shitty, dull encounters. Patrat, Lillipup, Purrloin, Pidove, Roggenrola, Blitzle and the monkeys are the most generic fillermons imaginable. Sure they hold up in battle well into the late-game but they have such unfun playstyles and are mindnumbingly boring to use long-term. It isn't until the desert area where fun encounters finally start popping up. Scraggy is a fantastic example of this. Great typing, very fun ability, great movepool and great compatibility with the Eviolite. This is short-lived though, because after the desert area there's no shortage of boring encounters. Ducklett, Deerling, Vanillite, Foongus, Alomomola, etc. While the endgame has great encounters to remedy this rough patch, it comes way too late. You're expected to use these boring ass encounters for the majority of the game and by the time you're able to access the greats the game is damn-near over. Literally; It takes way too long to obtain beasts like Mienshao, Bisharp, Durant, Mandibuzz, etc.
I'm really unhappy with Unova's dex. Many great encounters but you have to tie yourself over with such boring shit until you can obtain them, which at that point why even use them?
