RSE did character arcs better than SWSH with Wally, and while DP was a bit weaker on character, it was more plot driven and offered much more lore than SWSH ever did, offering insight not just into Sinnoh but also the entire Pokemon universe's creation. Canalave Library offered more interesting tidbits than the entirety of SWSH.

That alone implies a high degree of exclusivity, which makes you wonder how anyone else gets in, especially the low level shitters who can't even get past Kabu. Then you have the dynamax focus, it's been stated several times that dynamax Pokemon have highly destructive potential, yet the gyms all use stadiums that can barely fit two dynamax'd Pokemon in, let alone allow for them to actually go all out. If it weren't for everything being framed in turn based battles, those stadiums would be destroyed on a regular basis making the entire system prohibitively expensive. Not to mention the body counts from attendees getting caught in the crossfire.
There is barely any thought put into that league, and most of that thought is spent aping soccer rather than tailoring it to something appropriate for Pokemon.
SWSH is a half baked mess, deal with it.
