>>35058992>Kids are too dumb [to handle a proper RPG] and GF was right. As someone above said, some of the most popular "kiddie" games out there right now are far from hand-holdy. Minecraft, Fortnite, etc. Kids today are perfectly capable of understanding complex games with significant time investments (like RPGs), and indeed these types of games prove popular with them.
You need to be more critically aware of GF- what they said wasn't a prediction, it was an excuse, and now it's become a self fulfilling excuse. Their contempt for their audience seeped into the very design of SM, and it's created a blaise, bloated, unfulfilling experience restricted to expensive, basically specialized hardware that many kids just don't really care about or want- and thus, they've moved on to other games that will give them a better time, all while the adults in charge at GF shit their pants and whine because the new generation isn't blindly worshipping them and trying to suck dick for the new DS like they used to.
GF could totally bring Pokémon to the new generation- look at how wildly, massively popular Pokemon Go was until Niantic's glacial update schedule and awful communication practices caused it to fall out of favor. They're too unwilling to adapt to the new order, and it's as simple as that.
