>>50815950This is disingenuous because he's presenting game states per turn instead of per battle. VGC format is much shorter than 6v6 Singles format.
If we for example minimize the number of turns necessary for each kind of battle, there are minimum 6 necessary for 6v6 while there are minimum 2 necessary for VGC (straight OHKOs in each).
81^6 > 37636^2
We all know 6v6 takes far longer than VGC, on the order of 20-40 turns before even accounting for dealing with stall tactics which can stretch well past 50. VGC battles very rarely extend beyond single digit turns, and most of the time they're being stretched by Protect, which only targets the self and not any of the 3 opponents, to dilute the odds. But even before that,
81^20 > 37636^8
There's also the fact that the 6v6 81 odds don't account for pivot moves like Volt Switch and U-Turn, which expand the complexity of a single player's decision-making from 9 (4 moves + 5 switch) to 13 (3 moves + 5 pivot + 5 hard switch).
Overall, the complexity growth on 6v6 battles is far greater than VGC because while the 6v6 rate may indeed be weaker, the exponent is going to be much higher on average to more than compensate.
