Gen 5 was designed for an older audience, the character designs, plot, and setting were made to appeal more to teens and young adults than children. It was nice to see a plot with more feeling and morality involved over the goofy antics of teams Glactic, Magma, and Aqua. I feel like gens 6-8 and beyond are just throwaway titles with gimmicks to keep kids occupied while gen 5 remains the last game that actually tried to live up to the potential of story telling that the pokemon world is capable of
