First shiny I ever encountered was a raticate in Gold a few months after it first came out. I only had a couple pokeballs on me and used them all trying to catch it but ended up running out.
Many years later I get some emulators and roms and start replaying games on the computer. In what I believe is a crystal rom I got this pinsir during the bug contest. So happy I caught it, and still didn't win it. But it was the first shiny I ever caught. After that, it wasn't until about a year ago after picking up OR that I encountered a full odds shiny tailow in the route just after rustboro. Since then I've gotten 8 shinies. I've caught 10 my whole career and encountered 12. The other one was a trainers Pokémon in a romhack.
