The smaller pre-evo is thought to be a spirit of a lost lover, who's trying to find their partner again. To travel around, it built itself a body out of cloth.
The evolution is where the spirits have found each other, and they hang out in a big fat gross body doing couple shit

Evo has Cursed Body/ Pickup / HA Shadow Tag (if Shadow Tag is too broken, perhaps Immunity? Since the cloth body is just a construct, and not really its body, and it's hard to poison cloth)
