He used fuckin DODRIO on his main team, man! That's the shit! None of this "3 starters, a regional bird and only one fully evolved mon" bullshit that Ash and Co have been ramming down our dickpits for the last decade or so. He had a full team of fully evolved Pokemon that weren't just whatever the kiddies liked + first stage starters + Pikachu.
