Another option is a 512x384 window, twice the 256x192 DS screen resolution. Note that the gray bottom bar background is only 512px wide; it's missing behind "Bag" and "Run".
Clearly the Essentials creators designed a proper knock-off of the Gen 4 battle UI, but this game creator thought bigger = better and wanted to distract from the Pokemon sprites with a giant tree for some reason.
That one Essentials defender always talks about its technical advantages, like animated sprites and internet connectivity, but those aren't in question. The people who created Essentials are talented programmers. The users, though... not so much.
