It isn't just that XY has problems, but that as people have gone over in this thread it is clearly lacking in material and quite possible went under huge revisions late in development. Like Lysandre really is a crap villain, and their is absolutely no way you won't realise he is a villain straight away. People make jokes about how overtly evil he is in the most generic laughable sense. I honestly do not believe a 27 year old who has experienced any media could not pick him out as the villain.
