While the type could use better designs, there is a decent amount that I'm fond of.

Last I checked the Smogon ORAS OU usage stats it seemed like something like 80-90% of users were running Natural Cure over Cloud Nine.

Am I crazy here, or has no one caught on to just how good of a disrupter pre-Mega Altaria can be to Sand and Rain teams. It gives Kingdra huge problems, Kabutops and M-Swampert don't fair much better due to losing all their speed. On top of assfucking Excadrill's speed as well (however, unless you have a Jolly max speed M-Altaria, you're probably going to want to switch right back out once you make the Sandstorm end for obvious reasons).

I just feel like Cloud Nine is the far-superior Ability by being able to support non-weather teams. Thoughts?

This kind of thing is the biggest benefit of Megas. Sure it shamelessly cashes in on nostalgia and often gets applied to mons who don't need it, but it really can give forgotten friends and new lease on life. Altaria is a well-liked Pokemon, but everyone who likes it is painfully aware of how lackluster it is. The Mega certainly won over some people who'd probably never looked twice at it, but it also brought all the quiet fans who had no reason to say much about Altaria back into the open. I saw a lot of people on /vp/ that day who were legitimately excited about the announcement beyond just the competitive implications.
