It slowed the pace down so hard for characters absolutely no one cared about.
I miss healthy competition and tough rivals when you're least expecting it, with opponents who want to take you down instead of "everyone do your best!"

I'd actually be fine with apricorns coming back, as I know I'd utilize them properly this time. The insane item (and recently even Pokemon) handouts need to stop, though.
