Works as it does in Melee, but with two jolts instead of one. The jolt from the AI Pichu moves in whatever direction AI Pichu was facing when the move was used.

We event moves now. The AI controlled Pichu uses Surf, which works as it does when Piplup comes out of a pokeball, and player Pichu hitches a ride on his tail. If the AI Pichu is off stage or too far from player Pichu, they both do Skull Bash instead.

Player Pichu uses Fly, which works like Villager's Balloon recovery, with the AI Pichu hanging onto player Pichu's tail. It doesn't have the same vertical recovery but there are more balloons so it may be slightly more reliable in some situations.

Both Pichu use Thunder. In exchange for having greater effective range and AoE, it hurts the player twice.
