My only gripe would be the lack of type variety, GameFreak can and has done whatever they want with types, there's no need to aggressively stick to the plain water typing and at the very least they should be using the lesser used type combos. Empoleon and Bibarel are still the only Water/Steel and Water/Normal types respectively, and neither of them are even fish, so it's not like there's anything getting in their way there.
