You seem to be acting all "1 layer is better" when i cant see any reason at all to not ink lines on a separate layer.
If i make a mistake on my line layer, then i can erase parts on just that layer without it smudging my paint layer. I can also paint colour 10 times as fast because i can ignore the line layer.
There is nothing wrong with one layer, but i dont see how it is better in any conceivable way
