When I was little I used a Gameboy Game Genie to change pokemon to Mew, and sold them to other kids for $5 each. The code only changed the sprite and name, not the stats or type or moves, and I just caught a ton of garbage level ~5 ratatas to use as fodder, amd just told everyone you had to get Mew to level 100 to "unlock his power" or some shit, and he was weak until then. I used my level 100 Mewtwo that I swapped sprites on as my demo, so he had the right typing and everything. The Pokemon fad died off at my school before any kids actually maxed one out, so a win all around for me.
