On the topic of characters, how about a furret that thinks they're an eevee: acts as a traveling merchant that peddles their suspiciously-acquired findings to the eevee(s). They keep trying to find different stones to evolve themselves but can't figure out why they never evolve.
Or it's all just a larp.
