I think the Battle Circles are the best in gen 6 because there is a lot of variation to them. They adjust to the size of the Pokémon. They shrink out of existence when a Pokémon switches out or faints. They grow in to existence when a Pokémon is sent out. In Double Battles and Triple Battles each Pokémon gets it's own circle that are joined together rather than all sharing one like in previous generations and the circles split apart and join together as Pokémon leave or join. Same for Multi Battles. The only thing wrong with the gen 6 Battle Circles is that not all Battle Backgrounds have them like the multiplayer Battle Background. They also are not in Horde Battles.
It's not really that big of a deal to be honest. I just find it interesting the seem to have put so much effort in to the gen 6 Battle Circles. They could have kept them in gen 7 and gen 8 but now with gen 9 we don't have Battle Backgrounds anymore so it would not really make sense for us to have Battle Circles. At least we still have Battle Transitions in gen 9(sort of). Gen 5 has the second best Battle Circles followed by gen 4 then gen 3.
Also I say Battle Circles and Battle Backgrounds because that is just what I call them. I don't really know what they are actually called probably because they not called anything.
