I think Phanpy IS a bad design.
I feel a disonance between this bright colored plastic-looking toy and the grey elephant designed around tires which make me think of dirt. The contrast isn't well explained like in case of Remoraid and Octillery. Although, it may be rather made out of rubber, which would explain the ground type more, as it is supposed to be immune to electricity.
Maybe I shouldn't be evaluating Pokemon as a whole line and let each of them be a seperate design, I FEEL dissapointed by both stages which could work as two interesting lines.
