>>53111977>meme types>bug and iceIce just got another huge buff in gen 9 after a string of them for the past couple games. The defense boost in snow combined with aurora veil and the often high natural defenses of ice types makes them incredible physical walls, they can often even tank a hit or two from three of their weaknesses because special-type fighting rock and steel moves are all hard to come by. Even with all that it's not a fantastic type, but I really couldn't call it a meme anymore.
Bug catches shit for good reason, but I do think it's worth noting that having resists to both fighting and ground is great for it, since those are the tied best offensive types in the game (or at least, they both hit 5 other types SE). Really the only buff I'd give bug is making it resist fairy, otherwise the main thing holding back bug types is just the fact that most of them suck.
Oh, Stealth Rocks also hurts the hell out of these, but it's been getting easier to counter it for a while now. I still personally wish it never existed but here we are.
The design purpose of SR is to make an entry hazard that can hit flying types and levitate, so I always thought it'd make more sense if they made electroweb an entry hazard, since it'd have much less collateral damage and act as a deserved nerf to water.>what about grassResisting ground, electric, and water is fantastic. Being weak to bug and poison is less important than you think because both are decidedly bad offensive types so it's not too common to be threatened by those. Bug especially is rarely available for non-bug pokemon. Being weak to ice is offset by the fact that only water and ice types tend to learn decent ice type moves. Water is weak to grass, so carrying ice beam only makes the matchup even(ish), while Ice is, even now, a type with many readily available counters that should be on your team.
Offensively, Grass is also one of Water's 2 (TWO?) weaknesses, making it okay coverage by default.
