The graphics were quite nice for a 3DS game and there was much to do and much to see in the first European region of this franchise. Mega Evolutions brought new life into the meta and finally ended the weather menace of BW and B2W2 while providing new incentives to breed a new team for online matches. Many QoL improvements were made or kept from previous games. While, yes, the main plot is quite lackluster and the games quite easy, these games were pretty good for what they were, a new introductory game to a whole new console where more than 800 models have been made from scratch. And the pre-Bank era of these games was amazing.
I, for one, still sunk in a couple of hundred hours into these games to hunt for shinies, build a competitive team and for the first time catched 'em all. I can see the minor flaws of these games while simultaneously confidently say that these games only lacked minor polishment which I back then hoped would come in the special version of this gen.
Instead, GF introduced us Ohmori, bringer of doom and waifus.
Overall, 8/10. ORAS 7/10. SM 5.5/10. USUM 3/10. SworShie 2.5/10
