I like both games, even though I played LeafGreen as a kid and Red as an adult, RBY is still charming to me because I played Gen 2 as a kid, and Gen 1 still feels nostalgic as the overworld artstyle is somewhat similar. But I'd still put my money on FRLG because of the better visuals, balance issues fixed and Sevii Islands. Most people say they prefer the Gen 1 sprites, which is fine I understand that, but I find the backsprites of Gen 1 to be really ugly and jarring due to the pixelated backsprite being stretched by a factor of 2x. Gen 1 is fun for glitches though, I agree with that.
