>>49965659>Umbreon is based on Anubis (Egyptian)False. It's closer to Bastet who became a Moon goddess after Greeks started occupying Egypt, because they thought of her as an equivalent to Diane, who took the form of a cat (this is why Sailor Moon and other Japanese media associate cats with the moon).
The bakeneko is another example of a cat whose power exclusively comes from the spiritual energy of the moon. Additionally, the maneki neko is a type of bakeneko which comes in a variety of different colors, the black one specifically said to ward off evil spirits (could also be the reason why it's called Blacky in Japanese, a combo of Black+Lucky).
Something I learned from previous anons, is that if you look closely at each eevee member's eyes, Umbreon is the only one with stylized lashes sticking out, possibly another reference to the maneki neko figurines as they also possess the same stylized eye markings.
>Its lack of fur (as opposed to bushiness)It and Umbreon share the same fur texture in pokken, so I don't think it necessarily would have short hair, rather medium instead, considering it's described to be velvet-like
