The problem with Pokemon parodies is that the punchline is usually the person's reaction to the crazy logic, and not the crazy logic itself.
Characters should treat the crazy shit in the Pokemon world like it's reality, and the jokes will come naturally.
When you spoonfeed the jokes to the viewer by having characters actively point out every strange thing in their world, it feels insulting to anyone who actually played the game.
