I personally suggest picking up a Sizzlipede/Centiskorch. Unfortunately not very fast but they have some bulk and power to them. Evolves early and gets access to good moves like Lunge, Flare Blitz, Power Whip, and Thunder Fang to name a few. Carried my first Sword run, especially against Piers and Macro Cosmos.
Of course you can ignore all this if you trade someone for a Volcarona or any Fire-type legendary.
