The simple design goes well with her, the skirt and shirt are more Trainer-like than most female Trainers in Pokemon and it fits the change her personality goes through perfectly. I also like that it's not something too fashionable, as that wouldn't fit a character who picks her clothes for the first time.
I didn't like her original design because it felt like a generic rich girl design, despite its origins. The Ponytail design fixes all my problems with her design.
