I thought I was "behind" others, but I got to hand pick my 3 move-ins by inviting tour villagers, so I got 3 I genuinely liked, whereas my friend moved all 3 in really fast, but had hers generated for her and she hates 2 of them. Now she has to try and get rid of them again.
And at least you get some good recipes out of Nook being a lazy fucker, despite it being a pain that you have to make stuff for the villagers. The wooden bed is genuinely kinda cute, and a massive step up from the camping cot if you haven't gotten anything else better (like I hadn't).
