>>50862293I don't have to say much because the series does much of the heavy lifting. All I'm doing is pointing out the obvious even what's said behind the scenes. People misinterpret things I say, of course, such as saying Pokemon are mindless which I have never stated. Instead I acknowledge that but also acknowledge the context Pokemon exist in and the things they do. Hence why I use other series to point out that the things people here say disprove my points are all present in many other fictional settings. Even Mr. Shudo said as much and his examples of why Pokemon act a certain way even included a real dog, something I've never used.
But more to the point is that taking a few gags at face value doesn't really tell us much. Even the marriage thing doesn't say anything simply because there's no other context behind it. We can't say 100% what was meant to be inferred there because that's all the context that exists unlike the other myths in the library.
And again it's worth bringing up again the stuff that GameFreak themselves add into their games and things the anime does. For example what following Pokemon did in HGSS and BDSP.
https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=210589These interactions don't scream "near human", they describe something that's closer to an animal. Again, think critically, is anyone interacting with their following Pokemon going to think it's near human with lines like this?
- Your pokemon turned to face the other way, showing a defiant expression.
-(______) chewed on your feet, Scold it? (YES) your pokemon seems to be a bit dispondant...
--------------------------------------------(NO) (-_-) Your pokemon ate something that tasted bad and is trying to spit it out!
This are the actions of an animal, not a person and this is really just a small snipit of the other things the series does with Pokemon. It's about using your head and properly contextualizing what Pokemon is doing here.
