What were you smoking when you played ORAS? The originals are way less of a cakewalk and Emerald is still the definitive way to experience Hoenn.
HGSS will always reign as the definitive way to experience Johto, especially with how GF dumbs down Pokemon games to be cake walk no brain playthrough, the only issue with the Johto remakes I can think of is not fixing gym leader teams (like, they couldn't give Jasmine a Magneton or Magnezone, or give Pyrce a Mamoswine?) and the terrible level curve.
