I just realized that unless I'm mistaken, Ash never pointed a Pokedex at Latios and Latias in Heroes either, maybe because he'd already been told about them. He also could have just forgotten in the moment since he was so surprised by their reveal.
But it's also possible that the writers intentionally avoided Ash ever pointing a Pokedex at Latias because he cares less about their battling stats and more about them as actual equals, suggesting that the writers thought Latias could be a suitable life partner for him ever since Heroes. Ya never know.
Another thing about Heroes is the song The Secret Garden. It would be amazing if they released the movie version of that song. If you listen carefully, they're different. The movie version has an actual ending to the song instead of a fade out, and it's got far less bass at the part before "There is a water, ooh. It is so beautiful"
It's been my favorite song for a long time so I'd love to have the movie cut someday. :)
