Money, that is why.
>Generate FOMO to keep people playing for months on end when they would normally move on to a different product/brand
>various "influencers" have reasons to keep the brand in front of as many eyes as possible
>use the Metrics gathered from data collection as a selling point to investors. It's not good enough to show how well the game sells any more. They must show how much "engagement" the games have
>in theory with all these people playing and talking about it for months on end, people who have not yet bought the game or might not have even ever played a Pokemon game might become interested in the brand. Not only that but people who already play the games will be more likely to engage with various other aspect of the Brand. Such as the Anime/Toys/TCG/Apps/collectables
What they want is every single person to have their whole life revolve around the brand. Pokemon is getting nightmareish about. It's to the point where they want you to engage with the brand as you sleep. Go already demands quite a bit from players who don't spoof. Gamefreak hired a NFTbro. I have a bad feeling about what is to come. Pokemon could easily be turned in to an MMO/Live Service. Imagine the hellscape of a PokeEconomy with Mons as NFTs.
If such a vision of Jewery comes to pass, I'll bail out of the franchise again after dumping my decades worth of shiny mons. I'm sure people will pay out the ass for shiny Charizard from "Kanto, in the Old days" or a Shiny Celebi from Crystal. Perhaps I'll become a billionaire.
