This is the same world where a father in Olivine City threatens to punish his daughter for misbehaving by abandoning her on the Whirl Islands, so "fuck around and you'll get kidnapped by evil hypnotists who will make you forget all about mommy and daddy so you never see them again" is absolutely a threat parents would make to scare their children straight in this world.
Lostelle, true to her name, did stupid shit anyway and got lost in Berry Forest, and couldn't leave because she was scared shitless of that particular Hypno DUE TO THE STORIES SHE WAS TOLD. But the Hypno wasn't attacking or raping her, just scaring her with its presence due to, again, those very same stories.
If anything, the Hypno was confused as fuck on what this little shit was doing in its territory, and was trying to figure out if her parents were nearby in the event it was in potential danger, as parents tend to be furious when their children are missing, and if they found Hypno's scent on Lostelle, they could've very well sought vengeance even after rescuing her.
And wouldn't you know it, when (You) come walking in with the intent to escort Lostelle, except you don't have the same general scent or vibe as her due to being a Kantonian whereas Lostelle is a Sevii Islands native, the Hypno assumes you must have ill intentions for Lostelle and attacks in a strange sense of protectiveness if only to cover its own ass.
