>>56008133update: i'm still trying to figure it out. unsurprisingly, it was harder than i thought it would be in theory. i had a major brainfart and didn't think about the fact that you would need to check if the EVOLUTION would be okay under the rules of the challenge, not the current pokemon. with the need to account for fusions added on top of that, it's just too complicated for me. which is why no one has done it yet, even though it's entirely possible to cause a game crash by starting with, say, horsea only, and evolving into kingdra on a gen1 challenge without catching any other pokemon.
