>>39999574It's honesly my favorite, mainly because they worked around the GBC's limitation so well it feels like the only core Pokemon game that is actually a well crafted product.
Music is the main reason I like Gen 2. City music contributes to the soothing, traditional ambient of the region and it isn't ear grating as many of the Gen 1 themes.
Day cycles are also a nice addition, I love yellowish colors in the morning.
Lore is well made, giving you space to either immerse in it if you want or choose to skip it if you don't.
tl;dr Gen 2 games portray a very well made ambient mainly through music.
