The biggest surprise in the game yet; you can battle the Elite Four equivalent at any time now. They're too high leveled for me to stand a chance (first one, the Orange Sage, was at the mid-30s) and I'm not going to try to RNG that and just play the game normally since that's a lot of Pokémon to RNG through.
We instead go to "The Jungle," a forest route, and the guard warns me about a giant Arbok prowling. Sure enough, we meet it terrorizing some girl and battle it.
I decide to catch it; it seems to have the stats of a normal Arbok, but when I try to load said stats in an editor to see the BST, said editor crashes about half a second after I load it so there might be something more to it than meets the eye. It doesn't crash for any other Pokémon I look at.
Again, part of me doesn't want to use it because I used an Arbok in both Brown and TRE, but I want to see if there's something special to it so I think I will.
The girl is nameable, and asks me to meet her at her house.
On the way there, a Zapdos sneaks up on me and surprises me before disappearing. (or I assume it's one; an NPC called it a yellow bird and it said "Zap!")
Argent Town -- "Former location of the largest center in the west" -- has a statue of "Super Onix," a beast that lives in a cave south of the town. A man tells me Argent used to be The Capital before Super Onix rampaged and everyone moved away.
The girl (named Goodfag by me) thanks me again, and ends up joining my party. I still have yet to have any difference from either CITF or Goodfag being in my party other than the sparse cutscene.
