>>45985298It's not really that hard to believe: the designs were used in the popular anime back when satudary morning blocks were still around, some of them were used in the manga that's still popular, and gen 3/gba was a pretty big boom.
I distinctly remember liking Team Aqua, especially Shelly because her sprite stood out to me, as a kid. Though I don't have any ill will towards her redesign.
