Seriously though, they have great chemistry and in the games and manga they make good opposites, Gold being the optimistic, insolent trainer who treats his pokemon well and Silver who is quiet, mean spirited and cold towards people and his Pokemon. It’s a classic relationship built off one character breaking the cold heart of another with a bright personality. Hate is very close to love if environmental factors change, I like to think after the events of the games they come to understand each other, it’s hinted at that Silver wants to reflect on his actions and grow up the last time the player sees him
Lyra also works well with Silver since her and Ethan are pretty much the same characters but since Gold and Silver were closer in the manga I prefer this pairing
