It's completely acceptable to reduce profit on one game as long as you secure another generation of customers.
It's exactly the same as Cartoon Network. A high rating show that gets money from advertisers can easily be canceled and replaced with a low rating show that inducts and indoctrinates the right age of children into their brand.
