Some pokémon are much cooler to have as female. Most bug and mole pokemon because of the broodmother thing, and arachnids because they tend to be larger and more powerful than the males in the wild. The same goes for snakes. It's also cool to have female pachyderms because they are commonly matriarchal, so a "fat mama" Aggron, Donphan, Rhyperior, Hippowdon (dat color) or Mamoswine is an easy choice.
Some pokémon simply are feminine more to me, like Whimsicott, Maractus, Dewgong...
Finally, there are some cool physical gender differences. Hippowdon, Abmasnow, Cacturne are examples of pokemon that look better female.
So yeah, why would you travel the world with a gay-ass sausage party? If I was your male pokemon I'd be pissed because no lady company, and if i was your rival I'd accuse you of loving pokeschlong.
