I personally thought it was acceptable since it's the anime but what IS bs is the fact that the trick room walls/roofs are visible in XY but is transparent in DP which made a difference since in XY it was due to it being visible that led to Ash destroying the dimensions/ walls of the trick room.
Also the fact that valerie barely did shit during Trick room was kinda awkward too.
not my least favorite gym but not my favorite gym either. probably bottom 3 for sure though.
