And I hear you on the twitter situation. You might not mind mastodon/baraag. Assuming its still active, you would find artists taking comms there.
I got a bit bored with the whole activity feed thing, but I found Baraag far more tolerable than Twitter at least. I didn't have the patience to use Twitter for more than a few hours both times I tried, but I spent months scouring Baraag and Pawoo for artwork. I should do it again, just not enough motivation.
