My honest opinion? You'll probably have the best luck with someone who speaks Japanese and start bringing this topic up on Japanese boards and forums. At the least you may get the attention of someone who is buddies with old GF staff who may have/know something, and maybe they'll see enough dollar signs on the table they'll get in touch if you leave contact information.
That's assuming the full builds were properly archived by early-GF. It's totally possible these assets are just remnants found elsewhere, but it's really hard to say without knowing more of the origin.
