Really upset about losing Fleece the Ampharos, I was really attached to her. After paralysing a trainer's Ratticate, I assumed I could just finish it off next turn, but it suddenly pulled out a (presumably guts boosted) critical hit sucker punch, which decimated her. Right before the flying gym too.
And then a sudden triple battle cost me Goodnight the Zoroark. I hate surprise triple battles so fucking much it's unreal.
So I added Rockstar the Aron (now Lairon) to replace Fleece and help with the gym. Zoroark was replaced by Aten the Volcarona, for whom I deliberately kept the Relic Castle encounter open. He had a garbage moveset to begin with, but tutoring Signal Beam helps a lot and his stats allow the moves to do damage anyway. Team has some much needed bulk now too, which is nice.
Unfortunately 2/3 of Skyla's team is strong against rock types so Rockstar only fought Swoobat and was used to pivote against Skarmory to bring Aten in. Swanna is pathetic though so it got wrecked by Diva's Rock Blast.
Now we're at my absolute favourite part of the game, the stretch from Lentimas to Opelucid, so I'm looking forward to this. Btw, this is only the second time I've managed to fully evolve my starter in these runs, so that's going quite well.
