It feels like so many people nowadays are just so obsessed with consuming products that the idea that a game would force you to take your time to appreciate its various elements (i.e., most games after the arcade times and before the phone times) is now considered bad? It makes me feel old knowing gen 4 as a whole has so many detractors nowadays, even Pokémon fans I've met irl tell me "Oh yeah, HGSS looks really cool. Never got past that first cave though, just kinda lost interest. I've seen tons of people play it online though!"
