A lot of the artists who do the "pretty bows and frills" thing are women who simply like that kind of stuff. They do the same thing to Primarina too, so I always saw it as the equivalent to a girl dressing up her doll in cutesy things because that's she likes. People already do that with Primarina and Brionne, so what's wrong with letting Popplio in on it? It still gets way more fanart where it looks "neutral" anyway. You can tell just by looking at all the new art in this thread.

Also, can you point to 3 non-Japanese fanartists who do this with Popplio? I don't think I've ever seen this trend among western artists, it's usually just Japanese artists for some reason(maybe different values?) and I don't know, maybe it seems like this big thing in the fanbase because it's mostly Japanese fanart that gets posted here?

Steel: Has some cool designs and pokemon with that type tend to be good competitively. I like it

Poison: Has really neat and interesting concepts, and also some designs I really like too.

Fire: I don't really care much about it. Has maybe 2 or 3 pokemon I like.

Flying: Don't really have an opinion on this type beyond "eh" and "it's okay". I like Celesteela and the oricorios though. The other flying mons I like are dual-typed with bug and fairy.

Rock: 1. Stealth rock is kind of annoying. 2. Needs more moves with better accuracy. 3. There are a lot of designs I don't really care for but I do like some of them and 4. Dwebble is very cute.
