>>53723396Secondly, the format. I think my ideal contest format would be something like Generation 4, but with a couple of changes to make it less repetitive:
>Dress-Up Round Obviously the complete freedom to dump random shit all over your pokemon like you could in gen 4 wouldn't be as simple (or as intuitive) in 3d, but this could still be implemented with some basic anchor points on models to attach cosmetics to the head/neck/wrists/feet/ etc of pokemon, as well as some pokemon having more detailed custom-made outfits that only that species can wear (like Cosplay Pikachu or picrel in Unite), and these outfits can be bought or earned elsewhere in the game.
>Visual RoundPretty self explanitory, just the standard display of pokemon and points earned/audience response based on how high your contest stat is.
>Talent RoundI like the skill element of the dance round, but having it be the same thing every time is very tedious, so I like the idea of a pseudo-random minigame depending on the type of contest being performed (Something like a memory game for smart contests/feat of strength for tough ones, etc); like other anons have suggested, i'm imagining something akin to the Pokeathlon games in terms of skill and duration, to make repeat contests less repetitive while still adding a level of skill into the final result.
>Appeal RoundSame as gen 4, having multiple judges adds a level of chance/risk that doesn't feel as unfair as losing points due to other contestants moving before you and stunlocking you with sabotage moves.
Lastly, add some kind of decent reward for completing contests. I think Prize Money would be the most logical option, and would serve as another option to earn postgame income instead of just repeatedly battling the Elite 4. Character cosmetics (or even the option to use contest cosmetics on your pokemon outside of contests) would be another big reason for people to engage with contests, especially if they can show them off in online battles.
