The thing about Palworld is that it's a game that so far it's nothing new and I don't think the devs we're trying to make a new sell.
It's popular out of a meme but the gameplay that's there meets the expectations of what the devs could make of a creature collecter.
I don't think Palworld is supposed to be a direct competitor to Pokémon as a whole. But it differentiates itself to past creature collectors with trending gameplay spins.
