RBY was the triumphant beginning
GSC was the spectacular magnum opus
RS was good but a slight dip, I guess you can't always be on top right? But they swung back with Emerald
FRLG was a nice revisiting of Kanto
DP was the first major dip, but again they swung back with Platinum
HGSS was magnum opus episode 2
BW was good, they were clearly still putting some effort in (OST is bombastic)
B2W2 was pretty good
XY was just okay
ORAS was disappointing after Emerald
SuMo were a step in the right direction but it still felt transitional
USUM were a step back down
LGPE were eh, the worst Kanto so far
SwSh was the first major and complete letdown - dexcut and felt unfinished, the first time we got DLC which is never really a good thing unless it's free
BDSP are quite frankly an abomination, I hate the term 'soulless', but that's what they truly are - the absolute worst games in the franchise beyond any shadow of a doubt
I feel like the 2017-2021 period especially has been a much steeper decline than expected.
Hopefully Legends Arceus can bring it all back.
